The Supreme Court Decision.

I'm so happy that the court decided to uphold Obama care because  poor people that couldn't afford health care will be safer because they qualify for Obama care. So many people's life have changed dramatically, and so many lives are going to be saved due to this decisions because usually people die because they cant afford health care or insurance, like the video we watched today in class, so many kids went to a bad dental clinic and didn't get the care they needed because the clinic was for low income families and the business only cared about the money, not the kids . It just brings a smile to my face just knowing that the president is doing something productive and making the country a better and safer place. Yes, I feel like the law is constitutional because President Obama is  promoting the general welfare, and insuring domestic tranquility. It's a fair law and it doesn't discriminate anyone.

Liberal

I was placed under the liberal part of the politics. Yes it fits my expectations because I already knew that I was a liberal person. I feel like the I'm open to new ideas, new cultures and morals and I feel like I don't mind what people's opinions are as long as no one is hurt inn the process. Yes, it makes sense when considering how I view human nature, there should be exceptions in people's decisions as long as their decision isn't hurting anyone or affecting them in a harmful way, people should learn to accept the truth and accept people for who they are, not judge them because of who they are. In a country like America, being liberal opens a path for compromise. There are so many from so many different countries with so many different beliefs, but the fact that there is compromise, life is made a little easier and everyone is able to practice their own beliefs. I view myself as an equal person with every body else and I feel like everyone should get along and people should accept others for who they are and their culture beliefs.

The High Cost of Low Prices

If there was a Wal-Mart that was opening in my community, I would support it because it has relatively cheaper prices than competition. It provides jobs to people in the community, due to Wal-Mart's cheap prices, people get the option of either saving or spending their money. It's a great store which has variety of goods that acts as  a one stop shopping center which saves people time. Wal-Mart helps build communities by providing community services like scholarships. So, I would defiantly support the idea of a Wal-Mart in my society because it's a great store and has almost everything a person can be looking for, and that makes the community a better place to live!

Are We Safer?

Right after the attacks on September 11Th, The government was threatened by the attacks, the people were terrified and it was a very chaotic time in the united states. The  government defended our safety by creating  programs that would help search for evidence and investigate the whole story behind these attacks. These programs collected certain information that they could on each person to add on the investigation. For example, in the video "Are We Safer?", police officers were directed to do a search on each person. 9/11 was a very chaotic day in America and the government did whatever they could to get down to the whole issue of what happened, how it happened and who planned it! and they were successful. these days its not as easy to get information while investigating a case. If a case is being investigated, and there is a search that needs to be done, the police needs a warrant or else it would be invading of privacy like its illustrated in the 4th amendment.

The government's role.

I think that the government should protect the basic rights of people like discrimination and segregation, while promoting platforms that encourage equal opportunity. It should also ensure safety among all citizens and make sure that they get justice when they need. With that said, The government's role is to maintain peace among all citizens in the country.

Democracy In The Middle East.

I Agree that the authors are right in their prediction that democracy will never work in the Middle East. The  Middle East, is a different kind of environment that has  many countries with different kinds of cultures, religions and beliefs. For example, in the article, Egypt's Revolt, there are certain groups of people that practice a religion known as Islam These groups of people have denied to practice democracy in their area due to their religious and cultural beliefs. Bottom line is, Egyptians take their religion and culture more seriously than democracy. So I don't think that they will ever change their mind pretty soon.

Something New I learned Today.

I learned that the people in North Korea are having a man made disaster. kids starving, left homeless, and women (mothers) forced into prostitution trafficking when they sneak in china. It's hurtful to see that something like that has lasted for too long but nobody does anything about it. I also learned about how the Chinese government hunts down Koreans and takes them back to their disastrous country, which is a horrible thing and its illegal but they do it anyways.

What I expect to get out of this class (Social Survey)

So far, the topics we've talked about make me think that I'm going to learn more about the government's purpose in society. I think I'm going to get more knowledge about society and how it works, and how the government's decisions effect people's daily lives. I'm excited and I hope I learn more about the environment and the people in it.
